TCEB JOINS PACT WITH DDC, EDUCATION SECTOR
\nLEVERAGING MICE PERSONNEL TO EMPOWER BUSINESSES DURING COVID-19<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

4 December 2020, Bangkok: TCEB in collaboration with Department of Disease
\nControl (DDC) under the Ministry of Public Health and MICE Academic Cluster,
\nhas developed and launched training courses to equip DMCs and manpower in MICE
\nand travel industries with knowledge and understanding in the standards of monitoring,
\ncontrol and evaluation of the medication and public health. The aim is to
\nenable them to safely handle and accompany overseas businessmen visiting
\nThailand under the government\ufffds special arrangement.<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

        <\/span>The training course was organised under the MICE
\nHygiene Discipline Guidelines project, and run by TCEB from 30 November to 1
\nDecember 2020, at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani. The attendants were 33 DMCs
\n(Destination Management Company), who are supposed to produce health-compliant
\ntravel plans for overseas businessmen coming to Thailand for investment
\npurposes under the government\ufffds special arrangement. The other trainees were 90
\npersonnel who become International Visitor Assistant (IVA) when accompanying
\nthe visiting businessmen. <\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

The stakeholder in this project is TCEB\ufffds MICE
\nAcademic Cluster, who was assigned to develop the training course. They
\ncomprised Silpakorn University, Mahidol University International College, Khon
\nKaen University, Chiang Mai University, Prince of Songkla University and
\nBurapha University International College (BUUIC). <\/o_p><\/span><\/p>\n

        <\/span>Mrs.
\nSupawan Teerarat, Senior Vice President, Thailand Convention & Exhibition
\nBureau (Public Organization) or TCEB<\/span><\/b>, stated that the instructions given by The Centre for Covid-19 Situation
\nAdministration (CCSA) on the <\/span>Special Arrangement has allowed foreign nationals to enter Thailand
\non a short stay with 14-day quarantine exemption. Thus, certain health and
\nsafety measures must be developed to serve such arrangement. TCEB has been
\ndesignated as the responsible agency together with the Department of Disease
\nControl, Ministry of Public Health and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in
\nsubmitting entry permit procedures. Under the arrangement, medical and public
\nhealth companions are required for foreign nationals with investment purposed throughout
\ntheir journey in Thailand. In this connection, DMCs were brought in as they
\nhave expertise and experience in planning and designing itineraries that cover
\npre-departure, onsite and post-trip for business travelers, while their staff
\nand manpower in the travel industry operationalize the itineraries. The
\ntraining to serve the government\ufffds special arrangement for overseas travelers
\nwill contribute to Thailand\ufffds status as the first-rate host country that
\ndelivers \ufffdBeyond Expectation\ufffd service standard through the globally renowned
\nThai hospitality. Above all, such initiative will help create and maintain
\nemployment of service providers as the training served to re-kill Thailand\ufffds
\nworkforce in accordance with the government\ufffds policy. Likewise, it will help prepare
\nsustainable future for MICE industry.<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr<\/span>.<\/span> Opas Karnkawinpong, Director-general, Department of Disease Control,
\nMinistry of Public Health<\/span><\/b>, said that Thailand has an efficient tracking system and disease
\ninvestigation that assure timely examination of the High Risk Contact group,
\nthus, an effective prevention of the disease from widespread transmission. The
\nDepartment of Disease Control certainly expects that all attendees will adapt
\nthe knowledge, technique and advantages gained from the training to enhance
\nemployee capabilities, as well as upgrade the standards for monitoring, control,
\nsupervising and evaluation of the medication and public health for the COVID-19
\nprevention The department is pleased to support MICE journey and wish everyone
\na safe and healthy future. <\/span><\/p>\n

        <\/o_p><\/span>Mr. Panjapol Laopoonphat, Vice President for
\nPlanning and Development, Silpakorn University, <\/span><\/b>explained that the
\nobjectives of this training are: 1. enhance the knowledge and understanding in
\nthe screening of patients and basic hygiene skills; 2. achieve proficiency in
\nserving as a host country, as well as servicing and co-ordination skills; 3. complete
\nthe English for Specific Purpose: ESP to be able to systematically and
\nefficiently communicate and negotiate with the group\/foreign nationals
\nthroughout their journey in Thailand, as well as appropriately convey a cross-cultural
\ncommunication; 4. possess knowledge and understanding in immigration system and
\ndata management for international travellers, and 5. possess interpersonal
\nskills and pleasant human relations. Other aspects are to respect the diversity,
\nadherence to the assigned responsibilities, ethics not to reveal the
\ninformation of detained foreign travellers to unrelated parties. Overall, the
\ntraining aims to develop new knowledge for MICE personnel and Destination
\nManagement Company (<\/span>DMC)<\/span>, including
\nthose becoming International Visitor Assistant (<\/span>IVA)<\/span>. <\/span><\/p>\n
