\nConvention & Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) strategy to put into spotlight the different
\nqualities of each MICE city has resulted in the bureau winning bid for Phuket
\nto host TBEX Asia 2021 when some 600 travel bloggers, content creators and
\nsocial media influencers around the globe will gather at this Andaman paradise
\nto experience its local and cultural identities. <\/o_p><\/span><\/p>\n

TCEB President, Mr. Chiruit Isarangkun
\nNa Ayuthaya said TCEB has developed a strategy for Phuket to create a new brand
\nidentity for MICE by highlighting the island\ufffds cultural heritage, traditional
\ntrades and indigenous way of life.<\/span><\/p>\n

This is a part of TCEB\ufffds policy to
\nenhance and strengthen the attractiveness of MICE Cities across the country by
\ncollaborating with all local authorities to develop strategies that are deeply
\nrooted in the DNA of each destination.<\/o_p><\/span><\/p>\n

Thailand\ufffds current MICE Cities include Phuket, Chiang Mai, Khon
\nKaen, Bangkok, Pattaya, Songkhla, Nakhon Ratchasima.  <\/o_p><\/span><\/p>\n

The bureau has recently set up four
\nnew regional offices to oversee MICE development in the north, northeast, central
\nand southern regions. As for Phuket, the southern regional office has planned
\nto develop MICE products and activities related to local culture and local
\ncommunities so that the island can create new experiences for MICE travelers
\nwith the beauty of the Andaman Sea and the diversity of culture.<\/span><\/p>\n

\ufffdWinning bid for Phuket to host
\nTBEX Asia from October 20-22, 2021 is, thus, responsive to our strategy and is
\nin time for the island destination to unveil its new brand identity for MICE as
\naround 600 travel bloggers, content creators, and social media influencers are
\nexpected to attend the event\ufffd.<\/span><\/p>\n

Through collaboration with the
\nTourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), the host organization of TBEX Asia 2021, and
\nthe City of Phuket, TCEB organised the Media and Blogger Inspection Trip from
\nOctober 6\ufffd8, 2020 for Thailand-based bloggers to preview more than just sun, sea
\nand sand, but an island full of vivid impressions and fascinating history.<\/span><\/p>\n

This includes the visits to new
\nexciting places highlighting the legacies of Phuket\ufffds early Chinese settlers,
\nsea gypsies, and traditional trades like Ban Ar-Jor Museum and Homestay, a
\nmansion built by a wealthy Chinese settler in 1936 that has been restored to
\nits original splendor, floating lobster farm operated by sea-gypsies and
\nancient Chinese shrines.<\/o_p><\/span><\/p>\n

According to Christopher Lau, one
\nof the participating bloggers, said: \ufffdPhuket is a destination that may seem
\noverrated and known for only island hopping. Well, that\ufffds wrong. I just did a
\nquick trip exploring some of the history of Phuket including staying in the
\nfirst hotel in all of Phuket in Old Town. It was an experience I would
\nrecommend for any travelers to Phuket \ufffd to really know the history of the
\nlargest island in Thailand. It will be worth anyone\ufffds time!\ufffd<\/o_p><\/span><\/p>\n
